Airbus A320-200 update for FSX Readme
This is an update, I believe my second, for FSX of Mike Stone's A320-200. I have updated the flight dynamics and updated the default Airbus 321 panel for it. The autopilot works properly so that the flight director shuts off as it should. No virtual cockpit.
Unzip to a folder of your choice. Copy the aircraft to the main FS airplanes folder.
I did have to change the two stand by gauges, air speed and altitude, to the B737-400 gauges or they would not work. I think they need something in the A321 model file to work.
There seems to be something wrong with the model file for the default A321 aircraft. I say this because if you turn on the autopilot while in the air; you then cannot shut the flight director off unless the autopilot is on. Shutting off the autopilot when the flight director is off, automatically turns the flight director back on. If you try to shut the flight director off after you shut the autopiot off, it stays on. This happens even when using the panel from the B737-800 in the A321. That is why I think it is a problem with the model file.
NOTE: NEAR OR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PANEL.CFG FILE THERE ARE TWO SIZE= LINES: SIZE_X=8192 AND
SIZE_Y=6144. THEY ARE IN SOME ARBITRARY VISUAL UNITS. THERE ARE 8192 UNITS FROM LEFT TO RIGHT AND 6144 UNITS FROM TOP TO BOTTOM OF THE PANEL. USUALLY THE LEFT TO RIGHT SIZE LINE IS THE FULL WIDTH 8192. BUT OFTEN THE TOP TO BOTTOM SIZE LINE IS LESS THAN 6144. THIS HAS THE VIEW OUT THE FRONT OF THE COCKPIT LOOK FARTHER AWAY THAN IT HAS TO. SO YOU CAN CHECK AND SEE IF THAT IS THE CASE IN A COCKPIT THAT YOU WOULD LIKE THE VIEW OUT THE FRONT TO LOOK CLOSER.
BE WARNED, CHANGING THE VALUE TO 6144 OR LARGER MAY MAKE IT NECESSARY TO CHANGE THE VIEW ANGLE OUT THE FRONT SO YOU CAN SEE BETTER, AND/OR YOU MAY HAVE TO CHANGE THE EYEPOINT IN THE AIRCRAFT.CFG FILE SO THE VIRTUAL COCKPIT VIEW LOOKS THE SAME AS BEFORE THE CHANGE. CHANGING THE TOP TO BOTTOM VALUE TO MORE THAN 6144, SAY 8200, SEEMS TO BE THE SAME AS PUTTING IN 6144.
See [reference speeds] section of the aircraft.cfg file for operating speeds.
